Features
Wireless Macro Commander
With the VM-1020 transceiver, you can control and trigger multiple flash units around the ring or off camera with 2.4 GHz operating frequency. Wirelessly adjust separate power levels for each group or set power ratios for different lighting effects. Set exposure compensation to individual groups or globally within your setup. Organize and communicate over three groups and sixteen channels between the transceiver and flashes. Having various modes and control means you can truly customize each shot.
Group Mode
Use automatic TTL settings or manual controls over three groups for flash manipulation and group compensation. By controlling how the groups output light, you can customize multiple setups for creative lighting effects or have preset configurations for various scenes.
TTL Mode
The TTL mode allows you to set power ratios between groups A and B, while group C provides auto, manual, or off modes. This is ideal if you need an up-front flash at full power and a second group to faintly light up the background. The third group works independently and offers auto and manual settings for even more possibilities with external lighting options.
Slave Mode
Slave mode receives flash information from a master unit. Use the transceiver in slave mode to turn it into a wireless trigger, perfect for firing off an external flash or remotely triggering your camera.
Speedlight Compatibility
The hot shoe on the transceiver provides connection access to incorporate a Nikon i-TTL Speedlight in your setup. Use the transceiver’s master/slave functionality and employ multiple receivers and Speedlights for extra off-camera lighting options. Wirelessly control the settings of your Speedlights with the on-camera commander.
Mounting Options
A couple of handy mounting options allow the placement of the transceiver where you need it. Mount it to your camera for overall command of the macro flash system. Attach one to a light stand or the included mini stand and use it as an off-camera TTL receiver or a wired slave unit with monolights via the 2.5 mm sync terminal.
Sleep Mode
Sleep mode turns off the transceiver after being idle and saves battery power. This will ensure you won’t waste the battery, so you can keep shooting. To wake the system, it’s as easy as the press of a button.
High-Speed Sync
This TTL transceiver offers high-speed sync up to 1/8000. Use a high shutter speed and shoot with a wide aperture when you want maximum bokeh.
LED Focus Assist/Flash Test
The LED focus assist/flash test is a great way to help your camera focus and test everything is working with your flash setup. Fire all the connected flashes at the same time to verify they’re working properly. Alternatively, you can use the LEDs as modeling lights to preview the lighting with one-button ease.
Triggering a Studio Light
With the transceiver’s 2.5 mm sync port, you can set up and use off-camera strobes. Use the transceiver as a wireless receiver, and trigger studio lights with less cables to set up.
Carrying Pouch
The carrying pouch offers a convenient way to carry the transceiver and stand together. This makes it easy to throw your equipment in your bag and quickly grab everything you need with one hand. No digging for gear when you need to set up and get shooting.
