Overview
The Genaray SSL-36 is a daylight-balanced 36-inch strip LED that provides even illumination and a soft wrap-around light. In the studio, its 36-inch length is perfect for lighting full-length portraits, and it excels as a hair or accent light for group shots. The bright 256-bulb LED array has an integrated diffuser for a soft wraparound beam that eliminates the multiple shadows associated with LED lights. The SSL-36 is constructed with full-length barndoors that can cut the beam to a very narrow strip, which gives precise control over the light and shadow cast on subjects or backgrounds. With a CRI of 95, the SSL-36 delivers excellent color accuracy. Its power output is controlled by a stepless dimmer knob that ranges from 100% to 10% brightness. The fixture runs on AC or battery power, and it’s passively cooled so there’s no fan noise that can disrupt a video shoot. A lollipop mount is included for precise and easy positioning in any orientation.

Even Illumination

Barndoors
The full-length barndoors minimize light spill and make it possible to shape the beam to a narrow strip for precise control over the light and shadow cast on subjects or backgrounds.
Horizontal or Vertical Orientation
Due to its width in horizontal orientation, you can create a wraparound light that’s perfect for product, fashion, and portrait photography. In vertical orientation, the strip can create dramatic and cinematic shadowing for photographs and video.
Lollipop Mount
The sturdy lollipop mount furnishes a ball–head attachment that makes it possible to aim the SSL-36 in practically any orientation. The ratchet locking handle assures a secure hold.
Stepless Dimming
The stepless dimming knob adjusts the brightness from 100% to 10% increments, and lets you dial in the precise brightness you need for a perfect exposure.
Battery or Plug-In Power
The light operates on either battery (DC) or plug-in (AC) power, so you’ll never be left without a way to light your subjects. If you’re worried about people walking or tripping over your power cables in a crowded room, you can switch to battery power in seconds.
Quiet Operation
The SSL-36 operates quietly without a fan. That’s good news if you’re lighting a video shoot and you want to record live sound or dialog. The heat sync effectively dissipates heat and makes it possible to operate the fixture for long periods without overheating.
Multivoltage
The SSL-36 can run on North American and international voltages. Take it with you, even if you’re leaving the country to shoot abroad. Just remember to bring the right plug adapters (sold separately).
