Overview
Polsen’s Personal Monitor Amplifier is the solution for any singer or instrumentalist who’s tired of not hearing enough of themselves in the headphone mix. The PMA-1 is a personal monitor amplifier that’s perfect for stage or studio work. In fact, it’s often referred to as a “more me” box. It lets you independently blend or boost your microphone against the mix in your headphones so you can give your best performance. The PMA-1 mixes a stereo or mono line-level signal from the aux out of a mixing board, your computer’s sound card, or any line-level playback device, and lets you hear your performance with zero latency. XLR input and output along with a ground/lift switch ensure noise- and hum-free monitoring. The PMA-1 sets up in seconds, and it has only two knobs, so it’s extremely simple to use. The mic gain knob adjusts the headphone volume of your microphone, and the input monitor knob controls the volume of the entire track. The result is the perfect personal headphone mix. You don’t have to stop recording to ask the engineer for “more me” in the headphones. Just boost your mic volume and keep your session going.

Studio and Live Sound

You can control the volume of your microphone against the rest of the track for a perfect headphone mix. Ideal for studio and live sound, the PMA-1 sends the preferred blend to your headphones, and it sends your mic signal through to the mixing board.
Monitor and Mic Level Controls
Two knobs are the only controls you need to operate the PMA-1. The mic gain controls the level of your microphone, and the monitor level controls the volume of the overall mix in the headphones. If it sounds easy, it is. Tweak the levels for your ideal headphone mix.
No-Latency Headphone Monitoring
Studio monitor headphones with 1/4-inch connectors, and personal headphones or ear buds with 1/8-inch connectors are all compatible with the PMA-1. Use whatever headphones you prefer. Listen to your performance with the rest of the track in real time without latency.
XLR In and Thru
The last thing you want is a device that introduces noise to the signal path. The Mic In and Mic Thru XLR connectors receive and send balanced audio signals that reject noise and interference. Even if you’re on stage, where lighting cables are crisscrossing the area, your audio signal will be clean and pristine when it reaches the mixing board.
Mono/Stereo Switch
The mono/stereo switch is a handy option to use if the monitor input receives a mono signal. Some “more me” boxes only give you the mix on one channel. Selecting mono on the PMA-1 will give you the mono mix in both ears.
Ground Lift Switch
The dreaded ground-loop hum has stopped concerts and recordings dead in their tracks. If you experience a ground loop, don’t panic. The PMA-1 boasts a ground/lift switch that eliminates the hum in your headphones.
