Overview
The Vello BG-N17-2 battery grip is designed specifically for the Nikon D500 SLR camera. It accepts a Nikon EN-EL15 rechargeable battery (not included), along with your camera’s battery, to effectively double your camera’s battery life. The BG-N17-2 grip provides an alternate shutter release, main and sub command dials, and function and AF-ON buttons, to help when shooting in portrait orientation. A multi-selector joystick offers similar camera control over features like selecting autofocus points or displaying image information. An included AA battery holder accepts eight AA batteries in case you need to find a convenient power source. And the grip is compatible with the high capacity Nikon EN-EL18c battery when used with the BL-5 Battery Chamber Cover (not included). Attaching the grip to a tripod is easy with a 1/4-20 threaded socket on the bottom, which maintains the camera’s mounting ability.

Accepts a Nikon EN-EL15 Rechargeable Battery
Double the runtime of your Nikon D500 DSLR. The Vello BG-N17 Battery Grip accepts a Nikon EN-EL15 rechargeable battery, so you can keep shooting after your camera’s battery runs out of power.
Alternate Shutter Release Button
An alternate shutter release makes it comfortable to shoot in portrait orientation, so you won’t have to twist your arm to get the right shot.
Front and Rear Dials
Two dials allow main and sub command adjustments when your camera is in the vertical position. This allows control over your aperture and shutter speed with familiar finger placement.
Function Button
A function button offers control of an available camera setting right at your fingertip. This allows you to use your favorite feature and quickly access it during shooting.
AF-ON Button
The AF-ON button offers the same ability as the one on your camera and makes it possible for back-button focusing. In addition this button is customizable to other functions inside the cameras menu.
Multi-Selector
The multi-selector provides an easy way to reposition your focus point or focus zone, same as the camera. You also have the ability to scroll through pictures, display image information, or the selector can be set for alternative functionality through the camera’s menu.
Control Lock
A control lock is conveniently positioned around the shutter release button. You can quickly lock the controls to prevent accidentally pressing something while you’re shooting in a landscape position.
AA Battery Holder
An included AA battery holder takes eight AA batteries (rechargeable batteries are recommended). This makes it easy to have an alternate power source when out in the field.
High-Capacity Battery
The BG-N17-2 accepts the high-capacity Nikon EN-EL18c battery for extended shooting. Use this battery with the Nikon BL-5 Battery Chamber Cover.
Plug-In Power
If you shoot indoors for extended periods, use the Nikon EH-5B Power Supply and Connector. It’s an easy way to keep your camera running with the help of AC power for studio sessions or uploading files.
Nonslip Grip
A rubber nonslip grip enables enhanced handling when shooting in portrait orientation, even with cold hands.
1/4-20 Mounting Screw
The BG-N17-2 attaches to your camera’s tripod socket with a 1/4-20 mounting screw for a secure fit. A 1/4-20 tripod socket on the bottom of the grip means your camera retains its mounting ability.
